Strengthening SKI’s Capacity to Build Territorial Markets
As part of strengthening SKI’s markets work – one of the key priorities of the new SKI strategy, , the SKI Grants Officer, Ntokozo Zondi is currently participating in the Organics International (IFOAM) Leadership Course in South Africa. Organics International is the global umbrella organisation for the organic movement, working to advance organic agriculture and develop standards that support credible organic systems worldwide The nine-month hybrid programme, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, focuses on agroecological transitions, territorial markets, value chains, and agroecological entrepreneurship.
The course includes dedicated modules on value chains and marketing strategies, enabling participants to deepen their understanding of market segmentation, differentiation, alternative food chains, and positioning agroecological products in ways that ensure fair compensation for producers. It also strengthens practical business development skills, including value chain mapping, market research, branding, and building viable agroecological enterprises.
Through this training, SKI is building internal capacity to support producers not only in sustainable production, but also in accessing and shaping markets that are local, resilient, and aligned with food sovereignty principles. This investment enhances SKI’s ability to facilitate market linkages, strengthen agroecological enterprises, and ensure that farmers capture greater value across the value chain.
