Ruby is the Seed and Knowledge Initiative (“SKI”) Administrator, based in Durban South Africa. While her job title may imply that her role is only to carry out administrative tasks, this is only a portion of her role and responsibilities. She is our go-to person for all in-country finance functions, including but not limited to supplier payments, banking, budget allocations and governance. One of the key aspects of her role is event planning and co-ordinating and given this is usually at an international level, at out of country locations and venues (for congresses and other large events taking place in the Americas, Asia, Western and Southern Africa), involving stakeholders and guests from all over Africa, the logistics planning are quite involved and complex! Ruby’s commitment and passion drives her to constantly strive to make the experience seamless and of a high standard for all participants and attendees. With over 25 years in the NGO sector, Ruby has a wealth of knowledge and strong management, finance and administration experience (gained in both the Corporate and non for profit sectors) that she brings to her role.

She started her career in the corporate world which laid the foundation for her work model and ethos, which is strongly focussed on delivering Quality Customer Service and won a prestigious award for this in 1991.  She learned early on in her career that building strong relationships and being a team player are key skills for success.

She believes that administration is the “engine” of any organisation and plays a vital supportive role in the organisation as a whole.
